The Department of Health (DOH) recently confirmed that French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi Pasteur has refunded PhP 1.16 billion worth of unused Dengvaxia vaccine.
This is in light with the controversy surrounding the said vaccine for Dengue after it was linked to the death of five children.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque affirmed about Sanofi’s refund details during a Dengue summit with 2,000 barangay health workers and village leaders in San Fernando, Pampanga.
DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo later confirmed the health secretary’s statement, adding that the check for the refund came Thursday of last week.
Stocks of Dengvaxia have also been withdrawn from all DOH warehouses except in Cebu and some parts of Batangas.
