Seven members of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating in Pampanga surrendered and turned over their firearams to the military, the Philippine Army confirmed.
The 7th Infantry Division (7ID) of the Philippine Army said the CPP-NPA terrorists or CNTS led by Jun Manlapat or “Arlet,” surrendered to the 48th Infantry (Guardian) Battalion and 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division.
The communist fighters of Arayat turned over their firearms including one .30-caliber rifle, one.9mm rifle, and five pistols, Major General Felimon Santos Jr., noted.
“They are currently in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Sta. Ana, Pampanga, and would soon be moved to Camp Olivas in San Fernando City for a ceremony and giving of initial incentives,” he said.
Santos expressed gratitude for the efforts exerted by Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda and Sta. Ana, Pampanga Mayor Norberto Gamboa to hand over the former members of the communist group.
Santos also hopes that more terrorists group would concede and join the government’s movement to better the country.
