President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to provide P100 million to bolster the agriculture industry and livelihood programs in lumad areas.
Duterte promised this before over 900 lumad leaders during a talk in Davao City on February 1.
“Mag-release ako ng 100 million, temporary, pangtawid ninyo sa normalcy. ‘Yun ang gamitin ninyo,” he said.
“You have to learn something, a skill to help your family,” the President added.
He further stressed that he would encourage more businessmen to invest and develop lumad areas.
Duterte also noted that if lumads do not want mining operations in their areas, “then we will not allow.”
