The government is set to carry out a series of activities in preparation for the observance of the Fire Prevention Month.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will be focusing on raising awareness regarding fire safety.

Under this plan, the agency will introduce the campaign dubbed as “Berong Bombero sa Paaralan” across all elementary schools in the Philippines.

It will also launch the “1st Fire Safety Expo” to showcase the works of winners in different fire prevention competitions nationwide.

Moreover, the DILG will prepare a fun run “One Team: One Color” as well as a “Bike for a Cause” for all BFP regional, provincial and municipal offices.

“Fire Protection Month is the time of the year when we are at our most visible. Let us use this attention, harness it to our full advantage to tap as many Filipinos as we can to channel the fact that fire prevention doesn’t rest solely in our care, on the firefighters’ shoulder, but is everyone’s responsibility,” DILG Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año said.

BFP Spokesperson Supt. Joanne Vallejo added that every Filipino should be knowledgeable and responsible to lessen the incidence of fire in the country.
