The local government of Kalinga province successfully burned down P17 million worth of marijuana plants.
Leading the joint operation were the military’s 50th Infantry Battalion, Cagayan and Cordillera agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Tinglayan town police.
The marijuana plants were discovered in 15 plantation sites in the villages of Buscalan and Loccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga.
P14 million worth of marijuana plants, dried leaves, seeds and marijuana powder were also seized earlier by the military.
Maj. Gen. Perfecto Rimando Jr., 5th Infantry Division commander, lauded the soldiers, police and PDEA agents for working “behind the success of the anti-marijuana operation.”
“The Army has remained steadfast to its purpose of providing law enforcement support to our law enforcers in support of the anti-illegal drug campaign of our government,” Rimando said.
