The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has launched Task Force Kamao, an inter-agency group that will implement intensified operations against colorum public utility vehicles (PUVs).
The move came after President Rodrigo Duterte announced his administration’s “crackdown” on unregistered PUVs nationwide.
Task Force Kamao, comprised of the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is set to start its anti-colorum operations in Metro Manila after Holy Week.
Aside from on-site operations, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III stressed the importance of intelligence gathering, for which Task Force Kamao has sought the assistance of Department of National Defense, National Telecommunications Commission, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of Justice and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“What is new here is the information gathering aspect of this inter-agency task force. By which we will be able to gather information about colorum in order that we can use effectively our limited resources with a maximum impact against colorum activities. The intelligence community of government will be tapped to help identify colorum operations,” Delgra said.
