DTI, DOST to bolster MSMEs market reach online

The government has been ramping up its target of boosting the market reach of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), bringing them to an online platform.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) are set to team up to promote the latter’s onestore.ph to MSMEs.

This partnership could help the sector expand its reach though tapping the e-commerce market.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the Philippine economy. And as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s whole-of-government approach to assist MSMEs, we are teaming up with DOST to impact the lives of more Filipino entrepreneurs,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said.

Given the government’s 800 Negosyo Centers across the country, DTI said it has established strong links with MSMEs.

DOST’s onestore.ph is a business-to-customer and business-to-business online platform that helps DOST-assisted MSMEs widen its market, DTI said.

The onestore.ph works like the typical e-commerce company, however this is owned by the government and hosts government-assisted MSMEs.
