The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. recently issued a public advisory advising the Filipino Community in the United States that the Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in the U.S. do not issue letters of appreciation to job placement agencies.
The public is advised to exercise caution in dealing with entities that are claiming association with the Philippine Embassy or Consulates General, presenting job offers, and charging placement fees.
The public may direct any and all question pertaining to recruitment and employment in the U.S. to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Washington, D.C. with contact number +1 202 467 9426 and/or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The embassy further advised that questions regarding the existence and legitimacy of job placement agencies may also be addressed to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administrative (POEA), the principal office of which is located in Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Filipinos in U.S. and in other parts of the world should remain vigilant in identifying possible fraudulent schemes by unscrupulous individuals or organizations.
