The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) based in San Fernando City, La Union will distribute relief assistance to families of Overseas Filipino workers affected by Typhoon “Ompong” on September 25-28 at the Capitol cafeteria.

OWWA Regional Director Gerardo Rimorin said the agency has allotted about PHP5 million in calamity assistance.

“Only one OFW per family is entitled for the program. We give PHP3,000 for active OWWA member and PHP1,500 for inactive member,” Ramorin said.

To ensure the smooth flow of transactions, Rimorin announced they have set a schedule for each town of the province for the payment claim.

From the initial assessment of typhoon damages provided by the Provincial Resiliency Office under the Ilocos Norte government, the OWWA announced that qualified claimants from Batac City may proceed to the Capitol Cafeteria on September 25-26 and Currimao on September 27-28.

The next schedule for other cities and municipalities will be announced soon.

The documentary requirements are as follows:

If the claimant is the OFW, he/she needs to accomplish a claim form with declaration that no other OFW-family had availed of the assistance, 2×2 ID picture of the OFW and a photocopy of valid ID.

If the claimant is the spouse, he/she needs to present a photocopy of the marriage contract along with a duly accomplished claim form, 2×2 ID picture and a photocopy of ID with address.

If the claimant is the unmarried child of the OFW of legal age, he/she needs to show a photocopy of his/her birth certificate along with a duly accomplished claim form, 2×2 ID picture and a photocopy of ID with address.

If the claimant is the guardian of the minor child of the OFW, he/she needs to present an authorization from the OFW, photocopy of birth certificate of the minor child, photocopy of valid ID/passport of the guardian and the OFW with address, including a 2×2 ID picture of the claimant and claim form.

If the claimant is the parent of the unmarried OFW, he/she must submit a photocopy of the birth certificate of the OFW, 2×2 ID picture of the claimant and photocopy of valid ID of claimant with address.

For sibling of the unmarried OFW, the claimant must present a photocopy of the birth certificate of the OFW and the claimant, authorization from the OFW, photocopy of valid ID/passport of the OFW and claimant with address, including a 2×2 ID picture of the claimant and claim form.

During the onslaught of Typhoon Lawin (Haima) in 2016, the OWWA also distributed cash relief to qualified OFW families.
