The Philippine flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL) was recently named “The Most Improved Airline for 2019” by air transportation safety and product rating website, AirlineRatings.com.
“The move to expand its global footprint using new generation fuel-efficient aircraft equipped with the latest cabins makes PAL a worthy winner of this award category,” AirlineRatings.com editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas said.
PAL launched its brand-new Airbus A350 and A321 aircraft in July 2018 for long-haul flights up to 8,000 nautical miles. This type of aircraft was used to fly PAL’s non-stop Manila-New York route in October 2018.
The new Airbus A350 are also set to be used in other North America and Europe routes.
The A321 will be used for PAL’s Manila-Sapporo route starting December 2018. PAL’s existing A321 is currently used for its nonstop Manila-Brisbane flights.
AirlineRatings.com editors also lauded the carrier’s international and domestic routes expansion plans, particularly the upcoming Sapporo, New Delhi and Mumbai routes, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.
