The Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Arm Conflict headed by Gov. Victor Yu in partnership with the Philippine Army’s’ 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) has been conducting initiatives for the benefit of our fellow Filipinos living in remote barangays of the province.
The province has been undertaking road construction projects, which cost about P87.5-million in the municipality of Midsalip, Zamboanga Del Sur in Barangay Pisompongan and Barangay Sominot, New Carmen, will benefit residents because of the route improvements.

“The road construction projects would improve farm to market connections where agricultural products for far-flung areas would have easier access to central towns and businesses. In the long run, these road improvements would bring further developments for remote agricultural areas,” Gov. Victor Yu said.
“Residents in remote areas in the mountains have long awaited these ‘roads to development’ projects. Now that the roads are being improved, government programs are being felt in these areas,” Gov. Yu said.
To expedite the completion of the project, the Bravo Company, 53IB led by 1Lt. Michael Bumidang conducts Critical Infrastructure Project and Security Operation (CIPSO) to protect the ongoing project from armed rebels that may delay the construction works.
“These road improvement projects can create a significant impact on peace and development. It shows that the government is working to provide for the needs of citizens especially in remote areas. Your Army is here to protect and hasten its completion,” 53IB Commander Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
