Metro Manila and other provinces that are currently placed under modified enhanced community quarantine will revert back to less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ) starting August 19, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte declared on August 17, 2020.
The provinces that will be under GCQ are Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, and Quezon.
Iloilo City, Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City, as well as the municipalities of Minglanilla and Consolacion in Cebu will likewise be placed under GCQ starting August 19, 2020.
The duration of the said new GCQ category will be until August 31, 2020.
As of August 17, 2020, the Department of Health reported there are 164,474 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 49,034 active cases, 112,759 recoveries, and 2,681 deaths in the Philippines.
