The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is offering a one-day rush application for postal identification (ID) cards amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Residents in nearby selected Metro Manila Post Offices can avail of the service, said Assistant Post Master General and PHLPost officer-in-charge for Marketing and Management Support Services Maximo Sta. Maria III.
“[This is only for] selected Metro Manila Post Offices upang makasiguro po tayo sa safety ng ating mga aplikante at ganoon din po ng aming mga front-liners (to ensure the safety of the applicants and our front-liners),” Sta. Maria said during a Laging Handa press briefing on Friday.
He said the Philpost is still offering a regular application process that is available nationwide.
“Ito po ay maaaring matanggap within 10 to 15 days at depende na rin po sa mga protocols or restrictions na ipinatutupad po ng ating gobyerno at ilang LGUs (It can be received within 10 to 15 days and would also depend on the protocols or restrictions implemented by our government and some local government units),” he added.
Sta. Maria said the PHLPost continues to provide services amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Ang PHLPost po ay agad na naglunsad ng programa na tinatawag naming #PusongPhilPost, upang ipaalam at ipahatid namin sa mga kliyente at doon sa mga patuloy na tumatangkilik sa aming serbisyo na kami ay patuloy na naglilingkod at nananatiling aktibo sa paghahatid (PHLPost immediately launched a program called #PusongPhilPost to inform our clients and those who continue to enjoy our service that we continue to serve and remain active in delivery),” he said.
Sta. Maria admitted the coronavirus outbreak has greatly affected their services including the processing of the documents and parcels as well as their delivery procedures.
However, he said, the services have been continued amid the lifting of some travel restrictions.
He said the PHLPost adhered to the government’s health guidelines and quarantine protocols to keep their mailmen safe against the Covid-19 infection.
“We conduct regular disinfection with our post offices,” Sta. Maria said.
